Christopher Francis Ocean, (nato Christopher Breaux) ma meglio conosciuto col suo nome d’arte Frank Ocean, è un rapper e cantautore statunitense. Breaux iniziò la propria carriera come ghostwriter per artisti come Justin Bieber, Bridget Kelly, Aramide Makinde e John Legend. Ocean è un membro dell’OFWGKTA, esordendo nella traccia di Domo Genesis, SteamRoller. Nel febbraio 2011, ha pubblicato il suo mixtape di debutto, Nostalgia, Ultra, acclamato dalla critica. Ha pubblicato due singoli: “Novacane” e “Swim Good”. Entrambi i singoli hanno avuto un discreto successo. Per promuovere il suo disco fece un mini-tour di 7 date in Nord America ed in Europa.

Christopher Francis Ocean (born Christopher “Lonny” Breaux), better known by his stage name Frank Ocean, is an American singer-songwriter from New Orleans, Louisiana. Breaux made an early career as a ghost-writer for artists such as Justin Bieber, Bridget Kelly, Aramide Makinde and John Legend. In mid 2010, he became a member of OFWGKTA, premiering on Domo Genesis’ track, SteamRoller. In February 2011, he released his debut mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra, to critical acclaim. He released two singles: “Novacane” and “Swim Good”. Both singles achieved chart success. Ocean went on a 7 show tour through North America and Europe promoting the mixtape. He is currently located in New York City.

On January 5, 2012, the BBC announced that he had finished in second place in the BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll. Ocean is currently working on his debut studio album, set to be released Summer 2012, while the same year he appeared at Coachella and he is scheduled to appear at Lollapalooza. Personal life

On July 4, 2012, Ocean published an open letter on his Tumblr blog revealing that he had fallen in love with a 19-year-old man in the summer of 2007 (when Ocean was also 19). He used the blog to thank the man for his influence, and also thanked his mother and other friends, saying “I don’t know what happens now, and that’s alrite [sic]. I don’t have any secrets I need kept anymore…I feel like a free man.” In response, his friend Tyler, The Creator tweeted his support for Ocean, and business magnate Russell Simmons wrote a short congratulatory article in Global Grind saying “Today is a big day for hip-hop. It is a day that will define who we really are. How compassionate will we be? How loving can we be? How inclusive are we? […] Your decision to go public about your sexual orientation gives hope and light to so many young people still living in fear.”
